1958 housing for the Swissair crew

The initial project was built for Swissair executives in a context of fast housing development from 1958. The renovation of these two semi-detached villas aims to preserve their architectural character while adapting them to contemporary standards of comfort and durability.
The main challenges of this project were:
1/ Thermal renovation of the exterior envelope: Total removal of the large facades, installation of a new wooden frame while preserving the existing frame and insulation between and on the frame, installation of new exterior wooden joinery with glazing insulation, installation of new facade panels (ventilated), solar protection integrated into the facade. Total repair of the roof with new waterproofing and insulation (compensated).
2/ Adaptation – interior transformation: replacement of the kitchen and bathrooms, bringing the electrical circuit up to standard. Reuse of interior joinery and in particular the sliding doors between small rooms, in natural limba (veneer) varnished with copal.
3/ Integration of new coverings: use of new material for terrazzo and parquet floors, for walls with wallpaper. This project is part of a sustainable development approach, favoring the use of ecological materials and environmentally friendly construction techniques. The renovation of the villas adjoining Grand-Saconnex combines respect for heritage and architectural innovation (replace with a synonym). It demonstrates the possibility of creating modern and comfortable livig spaces without sacrificing the unique architectural heritage that makes our rich built heritage.
